Hurricanes Katrina & Rita

We all, in one way or another, have been affected by the devastation brought through Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Tell us how you (or those you know) have been affected. Also, share how you have had the opportunity to reach out to the victims of this great tragedy.

Scott and I have donated money to The Potters House Church in Dallas, Texas. We are partners with TD JAKES Ministries and have seen what they have done to help the Evacuees. More than 25,000 people were sent to Dallas and placed in Texas Stadium and the Dallas Convention Center for temporary shelter. By the end of the week most of the people in the DCV will have apartments or homes. We will also send a box of clothes and shoes this week to the Potter's House for the Evacuees. If you would like to donate funds to a ministry full of the compassion and love of Jesus Christ go to www.tdjakes.org

Our church is currently filling a semi-truck full of food of water to take from MI to victims of the hurricane in Mississippi, where we had a couple of members recently move too. Anyone in the Detroit, MI area interested in dropping goods can visit www.harvestministriescog.org. We leave Thursday, Sept. 22.

Hi! This is Trisha Breaux. We were evacuated for Hurricane Rita. And things have been in chaos since then. We had some damage to our home, but it's fixable. Water and mud came in and out but didn't sit or rise so we were able to save everything except some carpet and part of a wall that had to be replaced from water damage.
I was very thankful that I had a home to come back to. So many of my family and friends didn't have homes to come back to. In our church, we have over fifty-five displaced families, that completely lost everything. Including my Pastor. My Pastor's home had five feet of water in it. In times like these it's hard to make sense of the pain and turmoil going on around you, the only thing to do is hold on to God. He is faithful and He will take care of our needs. Please keep my family and my church family in your prayers. I appreicate it.
